Advanced Placement (AP) and Honors Courses
Falls Church High School AP Courses
AP Test Information
We hope your school year is off to a great start! There are a few AP testing updates that we would like to bring to your attention. As in previous years, the fees for the first six AP tests taken for courses in which students are enrolled for high school credit will be paid for by FCPS. Students taking AP tests without enrolling in the corresponding FCPS course are responsible for the test fee(s).
FCPS encourages all students to take AP tests for courses in which they are enrolled. However, students will have the opportunity to opt-out of the test(s) by filling out an Opt-Out form to be provided by the school. To assist in the decision-making process, students will be provided a report with their previous tests and current AP course enrollment. This report will be mailed home on October 2nd and will include an Opt-Out Form. If your student decides to opt-out, Opt-Out Form must be emailed to Katherine Vargas (@email) and Kirsten Wiley (@email) by October 15, 2020. Please do NOT return to the AP Teachers, instead please scan or send a picture to Ms. Vargas and Ms. Wiley. Parents will be billed in December 2020 for tests that exceed the six FCPS funded tests.
AP students who register for an AP exam after November 13th will be assessed a $40 late registration fee by the College Board.
We will be hosting a virtual AP Testing Information Session on Wednesday, Oct 14th at 6:00pm. Login information to attend the session will be emailed to students and parents. Additional information regarding testing can be found on the FCPS Testing webpage at https://www.fcps.edu/testfees. Please contact our AP Coordinators, Katherine Vargas (@email) and Kirsten Wiley (@email), if you have additional questions.
Not all AP classes have summer assignments, only the ones listed.
