Falls Church High School Podsters

Who are the Podsters, the mighty, mighty Podsters?  Here at FCHS we are fortunate to have an incredible Category B Special Education program.  They like to call themselves the “Podsters” and they are amazing!  Led by department Karen Allison, the majority of classes are located off the main math hallway.  Students with physical and/or intellectual disabilities call the Pod their home away from home.  Some of the students travel from as far away as Mt. Vernon to attend the Physical Disabilities program.  The program was started at FCHS in 1988 and continues to thrive with a positive, energizing spirit.  If you are fortunate, you might have a PD/ID student in one of your classes.  The students typically demonstrate a strong work ethic and persevere despite their limitations.   They serve as role models for others with their “can do” attitude.  Conversely, the general education students welcome the Podsters as fellow Jaguars and routinely display an accepting spirit.
